This talk was given to members of Filey and District Probus Club, many of whom served in the armed services during the Second World War.

After the war a few of these members found employment with companies that had pioneered the Industrial Revolution. Sadly they found the ethos had changed to one of bureaucratic management fearful of change.

Perhaps now in this new millennium we are starting to see the positive signs of hope, after more than a Century of Decline".

However, research is only as good as its source, or its sorcerer. Therefore any suggestions for change, that the readers may have, will be gratefully received.
